what's happenin' – the pseudoblog
Okay. I'll acknowledge I'm probably one of the seven people left in the world who doesn't have a blog. It's not that I'm anticybersocial or anything, it's just too time consuming and I'd never keep up. Despite what many an ex-girlfriend claims, though, I can indeed compromise. So here's my updates page – sporting a neato bloggish format.

June 9 - June 26, 2010 (Weds - Sat, 8PM)
The Seeing Place Theatre
Inspired by the 1934 Taxi Strike, this powerfully moving classic by Clifford Odets has become one of the most important plays of the modern American theater. Set in the Depression era and dealing with the cynical exploitation of the working classes, Lefty Costello leads a group of disgruntled cabbies to fight for the rights they deserve.

Murder Americana, by Harry McEwan
From the publicity notes:
"When crime is reduced to a nursery rhyme... For over a century, it has been a mystery so notoriously unsolvable it has become woven into the fabric of the flag. Before DNA, before CSI, it was one woman against the Justice System. On August 11th, 1892, her arrest rocked the nation. On August 11th, 2008, be there when her mystery is finally solved!"

I'm working in Times Square on a Saturday night, baby!! (Ten years ago that sentence would have had a totally different meaning.) But now, it's all about the laughs. This used to be the Laugh Factory - but it's been remodeled and renamed and couldn't be in a better location. If you're around and itching for comedy, this would be a good show to catch!

Dare Project Reading Series
Tax Deductible Theatre
Yesterday, I was one of five writers to present a short play based on a dare I received only four weeks ago. Check out The Dare Project to get more details about their ongoing, all original series. If you're in the NYC area and you want something fresh, new and fun I recommend going to see one of their shows.
